TAFE Tractors and Farm equipment limited, is an Indian tractor major incorporated in 1960 at Chennai. It is the second-largest tractor manufacturer in India and the third-largest in the world by volumes. It markets tractors under the Eicher and Massey Ferguson brands and controls almost 20% of the tractor market in India. TAFE started as a partner of Massey Ferguson (owned by AGCO) over 58 years ago. This long-lasting partnership has established Massey Ferguson 1035 model as India’s most well-recognized tractor. AGCO is a large US-based farm equipment manufacturer. TAFE is major shareholder in AGCO Corporation.
TAFE's factory at Turkey produces a variety of tractors for sales in Turkey through AGCO's dealer channel. Also, its footprint in China caters to TAFE’s ever-growing global sourcing requirements to its Indian and worldwide operations. TAFE's R&D facilities are centers of excellence noted for their innovation and engineering prowess. They are recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Analysis, Government of India. TAFE’s R&D centers have full range testing equipment which ensures that TAFE's products meet the standards demanded by the customers.
TAFE has a distribution network of over 1000 dealers which sells its four tractor brands – Massey Ferguson, TAFE, IMT and Eicher. TAFE exports tractors, both in partnership with AGCO and independently, for use in farms in over 100 countries which include developed countries in Europe and the Americas.
Besides tractors, TAFE and its subsidiaries have business interests in areas such as farm-machinery, diesel engines and gensets, engineering plastics, gears and transmission components, batteries, hydraulic pumps and cylinders, passenger vehicle franchises and plantations.
From just one tractor model in 1961, TAFE today is a mass-manufacturer with an extensive product range.
TAFE's plant at Turkey manufactures a range of tractors for distribution in Turkey through AGCO's dealer network, while another new facility has been setup at China to cater to TAFE's global sourcing needs and value addition to its Indian and worldwide operations.
